It has been reported that a new study by researchers at Duke University and the Center for Construction Research and Training has shown that sheet metal workers are at higher risk of asbestos-related diseases such as lung cancer, mesothelioma and asbestosis. The study analyzed the mortality patterns of 17,345 workers who had worked in the sheet metal trade for at least 20 years. Sheet metal workers were exposed to asbestos from inhaling the asbestos that was sprayed on various surfaces for fire proofing.
